The Dayton, Ohio GRILLMEIER immigrants:
John Erasmus GRILLMEIER
Born: 20 Jun 1839 (per his death certificate) in Bavaria, Germany.
His father: John Grillmeier, born Germany.
His mom: Unknown.
Married in Germany to:
Anna FRAUNHOLZ
Anna (FRAUNHOLZ) GRILLMEIER (wife to Erasimus) per Death Certificate & Obit: Born: Feb 16, 1842, Germany.
Mother to Anna: Margaret SCHREMEL, born Bavaria, Germany.
Father to Anna: Michel FRAUENHOLZ (FRAUNHOLZ ?), born Germany.
I THINK this is a marriage and I have NO idea what it means. Information copy & pasted as I received it.
GRILLMAIER Erasmus, °° 21.May 1867 in Kulmain with FRAUNHOLZ Anna Barbara register number 240, band: 9/2, site 10.
They immigrated from 'Bavaria' 16 Aug, 1872. I'd like to find any papers in Germany on this. He signed his Naturalizaton papers here in the USA as 'Grillmaier' which could have been a language thing.
It appears their 1st and 2nd child were born in Germany.
1st born known of (assumed all lived): Daughter Anna born 22 Feb, 1869 (my great-grandmother) born in Germany.
2nd born: a son, John (junior, No birth date found but after Anna)
A note on the elder Grillmeier line here in Dayton: Their youngest daughter Elizabeth has a son (Ray FORTENER) in his mid 90's living. His wife turns 90 next month and my dad (age 89 1/2) and I are going to her birthday party. Ray would be my grandmothers first cousin. If my grandmother (my dads mother) was still living she'd be at 117 years old. My grandmother was a granddaughter to the immigrants, Erasmus and Anna Grillmeier. … There's two other of my grandmothers first cousins living, both at age 100 and up. They are two children from the immigrants daughter Emma.
