Hello Sue,
There is a town of Franzenhorn which is on my very detailed map.
Obviously, it is also called Franzhorn by some people. Have you seen this
website about the Sternberg family in Franzhorn near Brillet (another very
small town)?
http://rycomms.com/gallery/steinberg?page=1
There are some wonderful pictures there. There are 3 pages. There is also
an email address from Randolph Hoppe in New Jersey: rycomms@rycomms . If you
contacted him, perhaps you could get more information. It appears that he is
related to Steinbergs. In picture # 2 there is reference to a John Henry
Steinberg (father of Margaret and others).
Do a search here: http://meta.genealogy.net/metasuche/index.jsp
Use the surname with no town and you will find reference to many Steinbergs.
There are many listings and a great many come from that general area in
north of Bremen.
There are LDS films for Gnarrenburg (where they may have attended church):
Kirchenbuch, 1715-1852 Evangelische Kirche Kuhlstedt (Kr. Bremerv?)
Kirchenbuch, 1790-1852 Evangelische Kirche Gnarrenburg (Kr. Bremerv?)
The records stop before your grandmother's birth in 1872, but if you know
her parents, those records may be helpful.
Good luck,
Barbara
Guten Abend.
