Fn. Pries

Hello list friends,

I was trying to follow the discussion of FN PRIES in Neustrelitz, but

my German is not the best. I do not >have info. on that family, but
noticed other names mentioned that may connect with my family. I have
been >trying with little success to find a trail for Joachim Pries
(Alter. 43) married to Sophie Pries (39). >According to the ship
manifest of 26 Okt 1884, they came from Drolitz with their children,
Auguste (15), >Louise (9), Wilh. (8), Wilhe. (7), Arnold (6), and twins
Aug. and Carl (11 mon.).

I did take an on-line course on how to find records from Germany, but

felt rather overwhelmed and will >have to take it again. If you have any
information on this branch of the Pries family, I would sincerely

appreciate any information you may have.

Thank you,
Catherine Pries

Hello Catherine,

since I started this thread regarding my husband's grandmother with the
family name PRIES from Neustrelitz this is just an initial reply in
order to provide a short outline of where I stand with this research.

I wrote in my original posting to this list that I am more or less at
the beginning of it. What I knew prior to posting to the list was just
her name, her birth and death date/place, whom/when/where she got
married.

Then I received additional information regarding her parents as well as
the names of her grandfathers. (The people on this list were a godsend.
:-)) ) That's all I actually have.

The place of origin of your Pries family apparently seems to be DROELITZ
(not: Drolitz, I am sorry - original spelling is with an umlauted "o"
character).
Today Droelitz is part of Diekhof in the district of Guestrow, county of
Laage, state Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

You're most welcome,
Vera (Nagel)
