I am looking for any information on Henry Fletcher, who was born in Hannover, probably around 1860. He married Elizabeth Schreiber of Frankfort. He was a wealthy man who was involved in bridge building, and moved throughout Germany, following construction projects.
He immigrated to the US around 1890. They had a son, Frank Henry Fletcher, born in 1894 in Chicago, IL.
They became American citizens, and then returned to Germany, around 1900.
A few years later, they were arrested as French spies and executed. Their son came home from school to find them gone. He lived with an uncle for a while. The uncle somehow gained control of the family finances. The son, Frank, then spent some time crossing the Atlantic as a cabin boy, before settling in the US. He was a carpenter in the Navy during World War I, and was able to talk to some of his former neighbors, but they didn't have much information for him.
I'm sorry that the information is so vague. My grandfather rarely mentioned anything about his past. I would very much appreciate any information anyone might have.
