Ferdinand Bernard Kaufmann family

I am the great great granddaughter of Ferdinand Bernard Kaufmann born around 1810 in Oldenburg, serving in the army and then emigrating to the USA via Bremen on 20 Jun 1837 ending up in Effingham County, Illinois. This information is from my Uncle Gus Hoene's research he did in 1976. I have all of the USA history.
I have been unable to locate anything further on this Kaufmann family in Oldenburg and am hoping someone can get me further information.

Ferdinand married Anna Maria NIEMANN (born in 1820 - I believe of Bahlen, Dinklage, Oldenburg). She was a widow of John Frederick OSTERHAUS (born in 1806 in Oldenburg). He also served in the army and was discharged at Osnabruck in April 1833. He then emigrated to the USA also ending up in Effingham County where he married Anna Niemann (daughter of Herman Niemann and Mary Selhorst (SEELHORST) in 1841. I have all the USA history.
I have been unable to locate anything further on this Osterhaus family in Oldenburg (could have come from the Stienberg area?) and am hoping someone can get me further information.

I am a descendant of many of the Dinklage area farms (Hoene, Buenne (Bunne), Langwege) and have found the history fascinating. My father and many of his brothers and uncles were all farmers in Illinois, Idaho and Montana. It seems our descendants started in Dinklage, emigrated to the Greencreek (Effingham County) area of Illinois and then on to Green Creek (Idaho County) area of Idaho.

I appreciate any assistance you can offer. FYI - I am an ancestry.com and familysearch.org user.

Hello Angela,

I have some records of Anna Maria Niemann from Dinklage-Bahlen - a friend in Dinklage have the whole history.
I could not find any records for Kaufmann or Osterhaus in the Oldenburg province - you are sure that the spelling is correct? Could it be Kathmann or Osterhues (in Steinfeld)?
There is a concentration of the name Osterhaus in the Osnabrück area.

We have a lot of places called "Steinberg" in Germany, but not in the Oldenburg province.

Sincerely,
Werner Honkomp

Hi Werner,
This is Bill Brown. I joined this Oldenburg website but can not figure out how to answer
the questions asked when I finished the e-mail. I don't know about the server because
I use the computers in the local libraries.
Please adivse what I should do. Or should I just go back to e-mailing you like I used to
  do?
