My family the Fastenau's emigrated from Hannover Germany.
Dietrich Christian Fastenau and his wife Anna Margaretha Ravens left Germany sometime between 1870 and 1873 and settled in Otoe County Nebraska USA.
I am Dietrich's g-g-grandson
Dietrich fathered Fritz who fathered Thomas who fathered my mother Donna Fastenau (now Mathiasen).
I would like information on family both in the USA and hopefully Germany.
I do not speak German.
Dietrich was born January 22, 1826
Anna was born October 14, 1837
My information has 3 Children Conrad (1859), Frederick "Fritz" (1862), and John Herman Heinrich (1870) being born in Hannover or Suedwalde (Sudwald??)
After arrival in Nebraska they had 3 more children Magdalena (1873) Sophia (1875) and Wilhelmina (1882)
There could possibly have been 2 more children that did not survive in the USA
any help is appreciated

He was from Sudwalde which is a town in the province of Hannover.
I find it hard to locate the family in the census records. I suppose the
spelling of the name makes it difficult.
