First of all, thanks to all who answered my question on farmer designations.
I am now a tad bit smarter.
One follow-up question. When did the colon's obtain their own land? By
that I mean - long ago, colons held an heriditary leasehold which was passed
down to children, but the land was held by nobles or the church.
During what time period did the colons get title to the land so that they
actually owned it? And did they have to purchase the land in some way, or
did the historical residency allow them to be granted the land.
