To answer Fred's question about the Osnabrueck area fiche:

At LDS, I recently saw a fiche collection called "Farm Histories", listed
under Ev. Kirche, St. Marien, Osnabrueck. I wrote down the numbers of a few
that I was interested in, and ordered one of them.

Examples: Hoeverkamp 6001269
           Schuermann 6001183 etc...

do you realize that Meier und Meier zu XYZ are no the same family?
Meyer zu Ronne is proud on this name because of the status of a real
Meyer or Meier or whtever writing they use. The mayors (That would
be the best transformation into English) were the heads of
communities as villages or little towns. In London the have him
still: Thr MAYOR.

Not to get too deep into the origin of the Meyer name but whatever
was way back then does not typically also apply to families in
our much less recent genealogies as to the word Meyer. At least none
of my Meyers were heads of any communities. :slight_smile:

What I am curious about is what fiche Rebecca ordered to get lists of
farms around Osnabr�ck. This really has me thrown for a loop. :slight_smile:
