Family Surname Nüsse (NUESSE)

I am seeking information on descendants of:

Heinrich Christian Friedrich Nüsse (NUESSE)
born September 13, 1795 in the Kingdom of Hanover (Town of Lauenberg, Germany).

He married Margaretta Dorothee Kruse (1798 - 1856)

It is known that they had 4 children:

Conrad Heinrich Gustav Nüsse, b.2Sept1829 in Hamburg?, d.1900
Heinrich Adolph Nüsse, b.1833
Heinrich Christian Ludwig (Louis) Nüsse, b.1837
Helena Nüsse, b. 1841

Conrad, generally known as Gustav, came to America in October, 1854 and raised a family in the Milwaukee Wisconsin area. He married twice first to Elise Wehl and later to Christine Freihube.

His brothers and sister, to the best of my knowledge, stayed in Germany. I have been unable to trace descendants of the family that stayed in Germany - I would appreciate any information on family members that remained in Germany (Possibly in Hannover and Berlin).

Does anyone have any suggestions as to sources I might utilize to continue tracing this family back to earlier generations or information on descendants?

Thanks for your help and suggestions!!

Hi Dave,

See if the FHL has films that cover the church books for Lauenberg.

Thanks...I'll look into it!

Here is what I found on www.familysearch.org concerning Lauenberg:

Do you know if the family was Catholic or Protestant? You'll want to find
the church records. And because you know the exact town your family is
from, you shouldn't have too much trouble locating the records. I contacted
an archivist in the Osnabrueck diocese who was able to find my family's
records from Haseluenne.

Good luck!

Marti

Dear Marti...

To the best of my knowledge, the Nüsse (Nuesse) family has always been protestant, specifically Lutheran.

Thank you for the lead...I'll check it out.

I'm sure the Lutheran churches have baptismal, marriage and death records.
If you can find someone to help you look through those records (or if you
can find out if the LDS filmed those records), you should be able to start
to piece together your extended family. But it will take time and patience.
It is very time consuming to look through microfilm. The records will be
in German (in my case, Latin too), so give yourself a lot of time to go
through them. If there is an LDS genealogy library in your area, they can
order in the films you need from the main library in Salt Lake City. I
think it costs $4.50 or $5.50 per film to cover postage. If there's a
monograph or book that you need to look at, let me know because I'm in Salt
Lake City a lot for business, and I'd be happy to see if I can look through
those books for you (the main library does not loan out books or monographs
to other libraries). As a matter of fact, I'll be in the Salt Lake City
genealogy library all day tomorrow trying to find some more information on
my people.

Good luck.
