Eisenbahnschaffner is NOT a surname, If I translate it for you, you will not have problems understanding:
It translates into: Railroad Conductor....... and it is a "Profession". I bet the surname is just preceeding this
term.....

No German "calls his family by the middle initial". Actually, in contrast to
Americans, Germans are not in the habit of using middle initials at all
(which does not mean that people may not have a first and a 'middle name' or
even several Christian names).
Well, Ann Rosemary, 'Eisenbahnschaffner' is indeed an occupation, a
conductor with the railway system.
