Looking for KASPAR family from Oberems kr. Usingen in the 1780s. They were Lutheran (evangelical) and I'm wondering if a church still survives today. It appears to me as if kr. Usingen no longer exists? I am guessing that the town I am looking for is now called Glashuetten-Oberems. postal code 61479. Can someone here confirm?

although you are in the wrong mailinglist (it's mainly
for researchers looking for ancestors in East and
West Prussia in what is now Poland or part of
Russia), here's some help:
The former "Kreis Usingen" was part of the Prussian
Province of Hesse-Nassau (which existed from
1868 to 1944)
--> Province of Hesse-Nassau - Wikipedia
Today the area is part of the federal states of
Hesse and Rhineland-Palatine in the Federal
Republic of Germany.
A view of the Lutheran church of Oberems in winter
you'll find here:

(just scroll down a bit to "Evangelische Kirche Oberems")
You might write to
Evangelisches Pfarramt

and check if church books for Oberems are still available there.
Since 1972 Oberems has indeed been part of 61479 Glashtten [u umlaut; the
zip code precedes the place name in German]. At the same time Kreis [County]
Usingen merged with Obertaunuskreis, and they became Hochtaunuskreis. Beside
a Catholic church, there is also a Protestant church in Glashtten. The
minister's name is Pfarrerin Anja Bode, and she can be reached by email:
anja@bodepost.de . She will at least understand English.
