Hello Everyone,
I have records from Haren which state Franz Gügelmeier as married to
Euphemia Becking (probably Secking) and to Phenenna Crange. One would
presume that there were two marriages. A friend suggested that those names
are really the same name and thus, the same person. The surname may have
changed for some reason. Does anyone know if Euphemia and Phenenna are the
same given name?
Secondly, there is a church record (also from Haren) of a Maria Crange
Gügelmeier - how would one interpret that? Today, we would say that Crange
would be the "maiden name", but I haven't seen that sort of thing in German
records. Would there be some sort of patronymical name involved here? And
perhaps in the Euphemia Secking and Phenenna Crange as well??
Thanks!
Barbara
