information about him. He was to arrived in USA 1840. Do you know where I should look for my

You sound like you need some basic help. I don't know how you got involved with hunsrueck-l@genealogy.net, but it is only one of several websites for German genealogy and it is for genealogy regional group for the Hunsrueck area of Germany. Hunsrueck is a mountainous area between France and the Rhine River, south of the city of Cologne. If your relative is from Holsten area which is up North near the city of Kiel, you need to go to that regional group. My advice is that you go to www.genealogy.net which is the Main German genealogy website and find the right regional group. I have my "Outlook Express" search engine set up so that any message in German is automatically translated to English. Good Luck
