Einladung zur Vorstellung des OFB-Berne am 1. November 2005 in Berne

Liebe Mitglieder und Freunde der Genealogie,

am Dienstag, dem 1. November 2005, 19.30 Uhr wird im Hotel-Restaurant
Weserblick, Juliusplate 6-7, Berne (Tel. 04406-928209),
www.Hotel-Weserblick.de

das von Herrn Friedrich Wragge, Reinbek erarbeitete Ortsfamilienbuch Berne
durch die Oldenburgische Gesellschaft für Familienkunde e. V.(OGF)
vorgestellt.

Deutsche Ortsfamilienbücher, Reihe C, Band 9 - Berne = Oldenburgische

John Gerhard Lücken, born May 08, 1815 (married Anna Maria Brockman)

Kathie -- have you looked thru LDS tapes for their marriage? If not, let me know. I'll see if my LDS has the tape next time I'm there and I'll take a look.
Kathy

Hi Kathy.....
Yes, I have taken a browse through the film. I did not find them. Our research center is not the greatest. the lighting is poor....the handwriting is poor.....the hours are poor.....and my hand hurts by the time I leave from cranking that wheel constantly on the microfilm machine....no copy ability whatsoever! If I find something that I would like a copy of, I have to pay a $4 minimum for 2 pages.
I have all but given up on my attendance there!

I understand that the Brigham Young University in Salt Lake City is putting 100 books per week online until they get it all (was it 5000 books?) done. And everything that is on microfilm will soon be available as well. I can not wait!!!!

since they did not immigrate in the same years, according to the census, I strongly think that they married here around 1839. Courthouse burned in the riot of 1884, and since I couldn't find anything, I don't think it is there.

thanks for the offer,
I would write more, but I am so tired.....need to catch some zzzzzs's

Hi Betty,
I appreciate the look up immensely!!!!! Yes, the Maria Angela Lubbers birth is new information!!!!!!!!
I appreciate it so much! Thank you!
Unfortunately...the other Johan Gerardus Lücken is not mine. Mine was from Ehren, not Angelbeck....but I am sure they are related somehow and I will keep this puzzle piece until I determine the fit! I presume that this John G. Lucken is the one who married Catherine Mariea Imbusch!
Great Job......I appreciate you ...and the generous use of your time to do this!
Thanks,
Kathie

Hello listers,

I would like some help confirming a marriage date for:
Johann Gerhard Luken (or Lücken) and Anna Maria Brockman
married on September 05, 1839

I don't know if they were married in Oldenburg, Germany or Cincinnati, Ohio.
I just found the date and thought I would ask if anyone could do a lookup for me.

Thanks,
Kathie McC.

Hello Kathie,

do know this:

Hello Werner and Betty,

Would someone please explain to me the differences between Löningen In Oldenburg, the villages of Ehren, Winnöbst, Winnickhof, Bomen and Neuen Kirchen. I am so confused!
Are these little villages around Oldenburg. If an ancestor came from Oldenburg (listed on our census pages), does it include all of these other places....like a state of the United States, with cities and suburbs within. I don't understand the political makeup and would like to....please have patience with me.

If they are not the same place, then the marriage (in the below email) might have taken place in Neuen Kirchen....home of the bride. There appears to be no record of their marriage in the United States.

Thanks for your kindness in teaching me,
Kathie McCallister

Hi Kathy.
I would look at both the Villages of the Bride & the Groom
to cover the possibility that they were Married in either place.
You could also look in the LDS records for both
places.Germany introduced compulsory civil registration around
1831,(although various administrations in the past had tried this, Bonaparte
in particular) however not all places in fact complied with this "National
civil" registration, some took years to actually put in place this new"Civil
registration".
The above date for civil registration is somewhat of a
guess, because of this tardiness by many civil administrators, I have seen a
date as late as 1893 being given as the date that civil registration was in
fact an actuality, throughout Germany.

The above is some of the reasons that the Church records are
still in the early years, far more likely to be of satisfactory use to
obtain data.

However , given the way in which local Parishes had to
record the various "life events" one can often not find the data that to us
today would be obvious. The parents of the couple are not often listed, nor is
the place of residence of the Groom, although one often sees the place or
Parish of the Bride listed? The actual date of Birth is not often listed,
only the Baptism date is listed. That is because the Bishop only wanted to
know when the child was admitted to God's good graces??? The Parish
Priest/Pastor was only interested in letting the Bishop know what a good job
he was doing in the Parish, not simply acting as a recorder of "Events".Some
more particular Parish Church officials were just the opposite & recorded
very good detail, however they are very much in the
minority.
I do not know the area that you speak of in great detail,
however experience says that they are all probably villages of the main
Duchy of Oldenburg, I believe that Oldenburg was a particular area which was
autonomous.

         Regards Bill HINTE.

Thank you, Bill!

I've looked at 3 LDS films from Loningen.
I drove to Cincinnatti (from Chicago) and went to the courthouse, the library and the historical society.
I've looked online at ancestry.com; genweb; and others.
Nothing to be found. I have the marriage date from my grandmother's bible records, but I have no idea where!

Thanks for all of the help.
Everyone has helped tremendously and I appreciate it.
Kathie McC.

Kathie did you aske for a Johann Gerhard Lcken born 8-5-1817?
I have found a Johann Gerhard Lcken born 8-5-1815 in Ehren (Lningen)
I think that,s the one you are looking for!!
