Hallo Falk Liebezeit und Erika Trueman

That of course is just another bit more nearby to DÜMERMANN as "T(D)ünne(r)mann". I only thought of misreadings. Dropping an "m" is also a possibility and as only the people around the lake DÜMMERSEE are accustomed and trained not to think hearing this syllables always first on the connotations of "Dümmer", what means translated also "more silly", but on the name of the lake, perhaps only someone from region could have come on the dropping "m". The other possible sense of name might be also a reason for the change to another prononciation and spelling. One should start in any way with these DÜMMERMANN for further research. TIMMERMANN will be in any case probably no way, because if it had come from a Low German transformation of the profession
Zimmermann = carpenter we should be able to find the name spread in the whole Low German speaking area and we don`t. So the building of the name after the local lake is a very good explanation fitting with the only few existing bearers of the name.
