My name is Monica and I am from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA. I am sorry that this is not in German, I did not do very well at it in high school. I am looking for any information on my great grandparents, Dominica Hewelt born around 1869 and August Hebel born around 1865. I believe they lived in Neustadt, West Prussia. I also have a picture with a family member living in Ustarbowo.
Until recently, we thought her name was Monica. I learned of her real name through an article in the Milwaukee German newspaper from 1940 or so. A family member, Stainslaus Hewelt, was looking for her. It was written in gothic german and is difficult to understand. He was either her father or brother. My grandmother believes that Monica had 2 brothers, Stanislaus and Anton. There were more children but she was unsure. I did not get alot of information from her because she was quite old when I began doing the family research. I have heard for years that her mothers name might be Anna Kline?. I do not even know if that is the true spelling of her last name or if the information is even correct. Monica came to the US in 1892 with her son, Joseph. I am not sure about the year that August came her. I have yet to find records of his arrival. I have been told that he came first and then sent for her.
I believe they were married in 1888 or so, possibly in Danzig. There is no record of their marriage here.
If anyone can help me, I would greatly appreciate it.

I found an August Joseph Hebel, born November 25th, 1866 in Oxhoeft, West Prussia.
He might be the one. You can check him out on familysearch.org.
