I researching my family I found a unusual family name. I am reading and interpreting old German handwriting - so I may me misreading it.

Has anyone ever seen a family name like Ginnig / Gimmig / Gimig.

The family was probably from the Haldensleben (Neuhaldenleben) area in the early 1800's.

Hi Jim,

When I was growing up there was a family living across the street. Their
surname was Gimmi.
If I remember correctly, my mother told me the husband's family originated
in Switzerland.
