Bonita: I went to the Sorenson website, but couldn't find any kind of database to search by surname. Can you provide a link?
Thanks,

From Sorenson main site http://www.smgf.org, click on Y-database (lower
left), then on the left it says "Search ..." but the URL is:
Bonita
Hi Bonita!
This looks like it is very helpful -- if only I can make sense of it!
Can we take something fairly common: "Mueller", or better something uncommon?
And then we can all look at the results for that, and you can tell us what we are seeing.
Is light blue a hit? Or dark blue? or help please!
Thanks,
Larry
Dear Listies,
SMGF - Mitochrindial option search using SCHMIDT..
Resulting surnames...........
TIEMAN[USA-Missouri], SCHMIDT[USA-Indiana], STEGEMILLER[USA-Indiana], LUKER[Germany].
SCHMIDT - Dad's mom.
LUKER - Surname of the first wife of H.F. Pieper. "Uncle" H.F. Pieper was "Pop's" contact when he left Bergedorf circa 1924.
TIEMAN - Aunt Harriet's mother married a TIEMANN.
I remember a Minnie.
Minnie was a close friend of "Pops." Minnie wasn't a blood relative but she was a part of our family. Her daughter wed the brother of "Aunt Harriet." Aunt Harriet was wife of dad's brother.
At least I don't think Minnie was a blood relative...but I know very little about my paternal side of the family.
Dad's brother died before I was born. I don't remember Eddie at all.
I have vague rememberences of GM thought she passed away when I was just five years old. I remember the day GM died. Remember mom giving me a bag of M&M's when I began to cry.
When I was ten I wanted a shoulder bag purse for my birthday. I told everybody in my family that I needed a shoulder bag with a handle.
Well....
"Pop" gave me a window fan. I was totally astounded. Why on earth would GP give me a window fan??? Huh??
Nevertheless.........
I thanked my GP for that window fan and told him I thought that it was the finest fan I had ever seen and the most unusual present I had ever recieved.
To this day I haven't figured out why GP gave me a window fan for my tenth birthday...though I suspect it was because he forgot my birthday.. Later on that day he gave me a birthday card and $10.00.
