Districts (Amt) in Hanover area from 1837 question

Hi Vera,

No, I don't remember finding relatives from Hagen or Noepke......
There were some from Helstorf and some from Luttmersen... but I don't think their records go back far enough.

I think also earlier relatives moved to Steimbke and Dudensen area.

I want to research more on my direct line...so I may switch to finding more about my gg grandfather's wife's family (Möll) in Buhlbronn and Steinbach( Backnang)....but Archion does not have those records yet.

My only fear of Archion is that I won't be able to "read" the German script correctly and miss important information.

Hi Joy,

in case you can still locate it: see my message to you dated 08/29/2010
Email subject: 1740 Scharnhorst-Engelberg marriage / 1754 CD Scharnhorst birth (Church records of Hagen)

As you will find the "Scharnhorsts" were from Noepke and the "Engelbergs" were from Linsburg.

And I think there was at least one more record within the church books of Hagen pertaining to your "Schulze" research. This one may have been found in 2011.

Regarding your direct line: yes, these parishes should go online via Archion as soon as more records from the church state archive of Stuttgart become available - which may be the case near the end of this year.

Well, searching/exploring historic German church books (be it via Archion, or be it via LDS [never rely your research on their index information alone!] etc.) requires to be able to read/decipher at least some historic German script - at least names. However, there may be people around being willing to help with the rest.

Best, Vera

Hi Vera,

You are right. I forgot about those 2 families. (Scharnhorst and Engelberg) You have a great memory. There is so much I could research....on so many family names. I would just like to find at least one living relative in Germany.

I will try Archion starting next month and have no doubt where to find help with the records.
( I can't thank you enough for your research help in the past...it has been super.)

I always try to verify records with the church books and / or civil records.....too many people on ancestry.com's public trees have taken my information on my gg grandfather and have given him a different birthplace and/or parents.

I believe there is a saying "Übung macht den Meister".....
I think I will concentrate my search for the moment in Neustadt am Rübenberge and the surrounding parishes. Thanks again for your insight.
Best regards,
Joy
