Discussion with Herr Thiele

Hello Herr Tautz

Herr Thiele called me after he talked with you on the telephone.

I would like to discuss World War I German military topics with you.

Nicholas Thiele mentioned you know of Major Bruns, of the Reserve Infanterie Regiment 259.

I hope we can discuss this further.

I will look forward to your email response.

Danke.

I put Reserve Infanterie Regiment 259 into GOOGLE and came up with the following page. Maybe he has more information on the Seicheprey battle.

Hallo Herr Grafe,

zu zwei Einheiten habe ich bei: Eike Mohr, Heeres- und Truppengeschichte des
Deutschen Reiches und seiner Länder 1806-1918. Eine Bibliographie, Osnabrück
1989 bilbiographische Hinweise gefunden:

Zum Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment 259: Günther von Bornstedt,
Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 259 (Erinnerungsblätter deutscher
Regimenter. Truppenteile des ehem. preuß. Kontingents, Bd. 175), Oldenburg

Zum Landwehr-Infanterie-Regiment 6: Erich Grün/Paul Hechler, Das Preußische

Dear Mr. Finnegan,

I have to apologize for the long delay. I have been out of Oldenburg and did some archival research.
I don't know of Major Bruns, but I have some knowledge about regimental histories in First World War.
Have you read Bornstedt's history of the Res.-IR 259? If you have no access I will look what he wrote about Bruns.
Mr. Thiele told me that you are researching the first battle of American and German troops in WW I. This is an interesting topic. I hope I can give you some hints.

Thank you for the aerial photograph from Koblenz.

Viele Gruesse aus Deutschland
