I have recently started receiving your exchanges. I congratulate you on your hard work. I have read with great interest the gentlemen (I believe Frank Kroeger) looking for immigrants from the Dinklage area.
My great grandfather was from the Dinklage area. He was Henry Bernard or Bernard Henry Zumbahlen (depending upon which document you read) who was born May 28, 1857 and was from Dinklage Groshersogthum, Oldenburg, Germany. I have him coming to America in approximatelly 1884. I have been unable to narrow down the ship and the ports. He spent a year in Cincinatti Ohio where there were other Zumbahlen's before making his way to Kansas. I have not figured out the relationship. After reaching Kansas he sent for his mother Elisabeth (Cohorst) Zumbahlen (July 12, 1827 - September 2, 1890) and she arrived in approximately 1886. She is buried in St. Gregory cemetary in Marysville, Kansas. My great grandfather died on August 21, 1913 and he is buried in St. Johns cemetary in Hanover, Kansas. He also sent for his two sisters Elisabeth (October 19 1861 - August 23, 1940 and she married a Christian Kuntz from the El Alcase region of France. The other sister Catherine (September 1, 1865 - June 18, 1950) married H. Henry Bramlage (November 13, 1859 - January 12, 1933). Henry Bramlage was also from Dinklage. All of them were farmers in Kansas. The Kuntz's are buried in St. Johns at Hanover and the Bramlage's are buried in St. Gregory's at Marysville. I hope this information helps you on the compilation of immigrants from Dinklage. I believe a number of people from Dinklage ended up in the Marysville, Kansas area.
Sometime I would like to know if someone could help me acquire a little information on Bernard's father Gerhard. I know he lived from June 2, 1831 to March 20, 1867 and is buried in Dinklage. Also compile information on Elizabeth his wife who came to America. I do not have any information on whether they had brothers and sisters or any information on their parents.
Any help is appreciated.
