Digest - newby here

I am attempting to find out where the best place is to research William and Isabel
(Meyer) Timmerman who lived in Hannover according to their daughter's, Anna M. Timmerman,
obituary in MO, USA. I know a lot about Anna but I am attempting to find out more than
her birthdate, 2/14/1840, and her emigration info, arrival 23 Jan 1857, New Orleans, LA.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I am new to this list and do not want to offend anyone, but the info below came
through as a digest. I have removed over 400 lines of text and there are still an awful
lot of lines left below.

I often get my messages on my cell phone. It is really helpful if every message that is
replied to does not have all of the previous replies attached, as well as the name of the
list several times at the end of most messages.

Please be considerate of those who do not have cell phones that will allow reading of
hundreds of lines of text that may not be necessary.

Thanks, now stepping off my soapbox, Bobbie

Hi Bobbie:

First thing you need to find out is what town William and Isabel Timmerman came from. You stated that they lived in Hannover, but the big question is: The city of Hannover, or the Kingdom of Hannover? If it is the city of Hannover, your search will get easier. If it is the Kingdom of Hannover, you have a lot of cities and towns to consider. Can I assume that Anna's immigration information did not have the name of the town she was from?

Hi Bobbie:

All technology is not compatibale. Some people on this list even have Mac's (;<).

The problem you are experiencing is following the thread. For an example, in a seperate querie, I responded to the first part of your querie concerning an ancestor Anna(I believe). You will note that I left your querie on the end of my response.

Now if I didn't do that someone else on the list would come along and see only my response. They would then wonder what the original querie was.

I do normally delete the following, which is added after each person's response to the thread.

I also deleted your example, because your message itself explains your problem. But if your message stated: "Why do I get all of the following lines?". I would have to leave those lines in the message so that those who follow know what I am talking about.

There are several ways of following the thread, and each one presents its problems. The most common answer is to break in your delete button.

OK, now let's find Anna.
