Let me take you bachwards in time.
Niedersachsen came into being in 1945 under British occupation, officially
became a state/Bundesland Niedersachsen on 1 Nov 1946.
From 1866 until 1946, it was a province of Preussen.
Prior to that the area (less Oldenburg, Schaumburg Lippe, etc) it was the
Kingdom of Hannover.
