Diedrich Henry Scheele Born July 1834 in Hanover

I am looking for information on my great-great-grandfather's family. Diedrich Henry was born July 1834 in Hanover Germany according to the U.S. Census. Data from 1880 lists his birthplace as Hanover Germany. The 1900 census clarifies his birthdate at July 1934. Family oral history suggests he was Lutheran.

He immigrated from Germany in 1852 to Rock County Wisconsin to a little township known as Hanover or Plymouth. It is believed that he came on his own since family history does not indicate any relatives in the United States. He lived his whole life as a farmer in Plymouth Township and was buried in a local cemetery after his death in 1910.

In 1867, Henry married Friedricka Henrietta Caroline Klug (daughter of Friedrich Wilhelm Klug and Sophia Charlotte Kieckhafer) in Watertown, Wisconsin where the marriage record indicates his parents were Heinrich and Catharina Scheele.

The children of Henry and Friedricka were (and born):
Fred W. (1869)
Charles E. (1871)
William F. (1875)
Anna (1877)
Augusta (1880)
Christian Henry (1882)

Given the names of the first and third sons, I suspect that Frederick and William may be family names, along with Henry of course.

I have spent alot time on the web looking for information, including the LDS website. I have not yet visited the local church archives. I recognize that they are an excellent resource for German genealogy.

If you have any information about Diedrich or his family, I'd appreciate it. Further, if you have resources I should be using, I'd welcome that advice too.

Thank you in advance,

The name SCHEEL and SCHEELE is a problem because of being so often. You might be
more lucky with your KIECKHAFER, which does exist here only with the umlaut,
KIECKHFER and some writings also in KIECKHAEFER. Altogether not more then 55 or
60. These are spread nowadays (my dates from 1995) in Berlin and along the
East-Sea in the larger places as Usedom, Greifswald, Rostock, Grmitz. The Berlin
ones and these make one half, the others are scattered over northern and middle
parts of Germany, almost none in the south. Give me a private mail, if you want
the file with names and adresses and telefone-nrs. In Rostock and Berlin all
three names are given.
