Does anyone know of web sites I can use to learn what happened in Mecklenburg
after the Treaty of Westphalia of 1648 when that region was ceded to Sweden
as part of the treaty? Textbooks would also be helpful, but when I checked at
my local genealogical library, they did not have any literature on what life
was like in Mecklenburg during the post-Westphalia era.
I happen to have an Erichson ancestor that I was able to trace through church
records until the mid 1700's, when the church could not find any further
traces of him. My obvious focus is to determine if my ancestor was a son of a
Swedish soldier or settler of Mecklenburg.
Thank you for your help.

Hello Gene,
I have got a Lars Erichson, a Musketier, married to Liese Sophie
(Kwick)born;
one daughter born 1771 in Leussow (southwest Mecklenburg, near Doemitz and
Ludwigslust), and probably a son born bef. 1771, died 1772 Leussow. Erichson
left Leussow again after 1772.
I would be interested in any information that could give a hint where
Erichson and his wife came from.

There is not to far on the other side of the river in Lower-Saxony a village
named Quickborn, while the name Kwickborn is seldom. Is is possible that there
was the speech of The musketeer Lars Erichson and his wife Liese Sophie from
Quickborn ? Hans Peter Albers
Hallo Herr Albers,
danke fr den Hinweis. Ich bin nicht ganz sicher, ob der Name der Ehefrau
Kwick- oder Knickborn ist, aber es handelt sich eindeutig um den
Familiennamen, nicht um ihren Herkunftsort.

Could you let me know more info about the 30 year war? Hopefully a web
site to go and read up on it, it is very possible that my family was
part of that.
Create excellence around you.
