Does anyone know where on-line there is a detailed map of the Rostock area of Mecklenburg? I need a map that includes the small surrounding villages as well as Rostock itself. Also, might there be a map of parishes in the city of Rostock?

Go to multimap.com and you should be able to enter the city for which you
are looking. It is quite good. You can zoom in and out to get a better view.

I only wish I could figure out how to print the map!
After many time searching the LDS for films on Monchhagen typing in all the
spellings that I have seen ... and getting no results, I suddenly got a list
of three items... using the CD library catalog rather than the on-line
catalog and doing a keyword search instead of a place search.
I believe two were census: 1900 and 1867. I think the 1867 census will be
helpful.
The other item, I am not sure what it is?!

I also found that by going to www.altavista.de and doing a search for
Monchhagen I got a website of the city with historical information that
includes some of the family names that I am searching. Although my inability
to speak German is a handicap, I hope to browse the site and get some photos
of Monchhagen.
Perhaps others on the list might like to try searching their cities at
www.altavista.de and see what they can find!
