I am researching my Dehmel family roots. I am looking to find out where they
originated from, and as much about the family as I can. I have posted below
as much information as i have at this time. If anyone can help me with this
research please contact me at _Daveovid1@aol.com_ (mailto:Daveovid1@aol.com) .
Thank you Michele.
My G G G grandfather was Johann Heinrich Gustav Dehmel. He went by the
name Henry over here in Michigan. He was born September 29, 1826 in Prussia
Germany (Believed to be in Silesia area possible Gorlitz?) Not completely sure
on place of birth other than Prussia Germany. He died November 3, 1890 in
Frankenmuth, MI. He immigrated to America in 1856. He married his wife Anna
Marie Louise Wetzel on September 17, 1856 in Frankenmuth, MI. Anna was born July
24, 1829 also in Prussia Germany (Once again not sure exactly where in
Prussia) Anna died December 4, 1892 In Frankenmuth, MI.
There is another line of Dehmels that settled not to far from where my
ancestors settled here in Michigan. There are many simularities between the two
lines, but we have been unable to connect the two together. It is believed they
were brothers or cousins. However we can not find proof of it.
The other line of Dehmel begins with Heinrich Ernest August Dehmel He
also went by the name Henry over here. He was born May 17, 1823 Place unknown
except for Prussia Germany. He died March 8, 1892 in Sebewaing, MI. His
parents are believed to be, John G. Dehmel, and Anna R. Berger. (If this Heinrich
Ernest, and My Johann Heinrich, were brothers? they would be from the same
parents. However we are not positive they are brothers.) His wife was Beate
Louise Zitschke. She was born June 1, 1826 the place of her birth is unknown, but
their first son Wilhelm Henry August Dehmel was born January 14, 1851 in the
town of Gorlitz, in the province of Silesia, in the state of Prussia
Germany. ( This is why we are suspecting our ancestor was born in or near Gorlitz)
I hope this information helps you. I am sorry it is not anymore detailed
than it is. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
again, Michele
