Dedeke/Schroeder

Hello again,

      Your elusive Dedeke or Dedecke!

...

I'd love to find out what Leadwich Dres means, but it isn't very
obvious, that's for sure. I would look for Dedecke as well. That is
probably the same name.

Hello again also from me,

first if Barbara Stewart goes from the list, would be a great loss. Hope the returns at least, when she is through with the English genealogy of her family.

She is right also with DEDEKE, DEDECKE an DEDECKEN as being on name and maybe changing only in writing one's name. I went to the Stoepel-site about the spread of name and it can be found, that there are 81 DEDECKE, 19 DEDEKE and several DEDE(c)KEN. At total to less people for general conclusions, but seems a bit as having been settling in former times mainly around the Hartz mountains as imanagable centre of a wider circle with Hannover/Langenhagen (Lower-saxony), Sangershausen (Thuringen) and Frankfurt (Hessen)as corner pillars or points.

If I remember right we tried some time ago to get out, what Leadwich Dres might be a s a place name and did not success in the end. So my proposal is, as to find the SCHRÖDER part is just too much of a needle in the haystick, to try and get contact to the about 100 bearer DEDE(c)KE for get their knowledge of theier genealogy. Perhaps by that one will find a similiarity with the researched place name. In the end 100 letters at 55 Cent Euro and perhaps being lucky already with having started with 50 letters to mainly Lower-Saxony adresses might be a better investment then a thousand hours fishing in the stream of genealogy news for an accidantaly finding. There are guarantees of course not in the one way or the other. But it is also of course only a proposal of me and anywhere in the past there must of course be a connection between this hundred and the one given DEDEKE.

Greetings and best wishes for success

Hans Peter Albers, Bienenbüttel

I am just coming in on the edges of this - however here's my small
contribution. I think Leadwich Dres refers to a place in Dresden called
Leadwich (many variations in spelling possible).

Would you happen to know if, this place can be found on today's maps?
Thanks
