I am searching for the birth location and possibly relatives of my great grandfather. Frederick was born in Germany in 1845 and immigrated to the USA in 1869, where he died in Bremen, Indiana in 1910. He was the youngest of four children consisting of three boys and one girl. It is believed that his fathers name was also Frederick.
I have found only one Frederick Rau who was listed as a ship passenger during 1869 along with his town of origin as ASCHEBERG.
If anyone has any information that may assist me in this search, I would be very greatful.

There are two Ascheberg in Germany:
one in the region of Muenster and the other one in Schleswig-Holstein close to Ploen.
Do you know the port of departure? This could be a hint.
