I am wondering if the debarkation lists in Germany might have more information that the arrival lists at Ellis Island? Does anyone know if the debarkation lists show town of residence, reason for departure, who traveling with, trade & so forth? These lists are stored in Bremen? Are they available online? Still seeking any connections to Johann Offermann & his wife, last known to have property in Ihlienworth in the 1940's, & my great grandmother Wilhelmina Offermann who came to the U.S. with a sister Maria (?) around 1880.

I am afraid you won't get more information from the Bremen passenger lists.
The entries are very similar to the lists of Ellis Island.
The Bremen lists are not online. You can order them . . . the entry . . .
but you will be charged for it.
As I know are the Bremen lists accessible via Ancestry.com. Maybe you have a
kind helper who will take a look for you.
It's not completely right that the list are not online. The genealogy
society "Die Maus" has a lot of transcriptions on their web site.
Take a look at http://www.schiffslisten.de/index_en.html. The page is in
English language.
I wish you luck.

The only surviving Bremen lists up to (I believe) 1939 are online through
"Die Maus." The Hamburg lists are available through Hamburg and through
Ancestry.com. Both the Bremen lists and the Hamburg lists should give you
the last place the passengers lived.
