De La Tour

It's been a while since I posted a query, so here it is again.

I am looking for (unknown) DE LA TOUR who was tutor to the children of the
Duke (Frederick?) of Mecklenburg at the end of the French Revolution.
Apparently this de La Tour and his father (unknown) fled from France during the Reign
of Terror and stayed with the Duke. The father was murdered on his way back
go France to reclaim his property.

Could he have changed his name to LATUR? That would be more the German
spelling, I think.

He became a Lutheran Minister in Altstadt, married, and had a daughter,
Josephine.

Josephine married Gustaf Schmidt, the son of a blacksmith in Schwerin,
against her father's wishes, and they fled to America, arriving in 1851.

Could someone check any census of the Duke's household for late 1790s and
early 1800s, bitte?
