I have a three-page article about a grist mill in Des Moines County, Iowa
built by two Buhrmaster brothers in 1840. The article states that they
emigrated from Minden in the 1830s and lived for a time in Indiana, and then
moved to Burlington, Iowa in 1838. I think it is likely they were from
Dankersen since that is where all of the other Buhrmasters in the area were
from.
Unfortunately, I don't know enough German to be able to access the guest
book on the Dankersen website. Please contact me and I will scan and send
the article.
