Does anyone have a copy of DIE WANDERMUSIKANTEN VON SALZGITTER by Alfred Dieck? I have seen indications that Dammeyer family members may be mentioned.
I know that the members who immigrated to the U.S. were musicians. My great grandfather, Henry Dammeyer (1845-1914) and his brother Christian (1852-1926), played in the U.S. Naval Academy Band 1879-1910. I have also been told that Henry played with John Phillips Sousa. I would like to find out if their father, Johann Heinrich Friedrich Dammeyer, (1826-1904 Salzgitter), and earlier ancestors were also traveling musicians. I know that Henry's brother, Carl (b. 1857) was born in Australia and all the rest were born in Salzgitter. That makes me wonder if the father was a traveling musician.
The book is in the FHL Catalog, but is only available in book form and thus not available at local centers. Any assistance would be much appreciated.
