Werner,
I found your reference to
_http://www.honkomp.de/damme-auswanderung/index.htm_ (Geschichte der Auswanderung aus dem alten Amt Damme 1830-1880) in this email
and found it fascinating. Others on this list serve may like to reference
it as well. Very nice history of the Damme/Holdorf area prior to and around
the time of the mass German emigration to America. Thank you for
mentioning it to Beth and the rest of us.

Hello Beth,
I tried to find the records for Johan Heinrich Rolfsen and Agnes Brokamp
in Damme and Steinfeld, without success.
On 23 Apr 1826 is born in Damme Maria Agnes Rolfsen, but not Agnes
Brokamp. I checked one year and after and before 1826.
For 1823 my resources have a gap.
You are sure regarding the dates? Do you know the name of the parents?
Have you checked the burial records of the cementary, this shows some
times also the parents of this person and some more.
The emigration records of Clifford Smith is a copy the this origin book:
Geschichte der Auswanderung aus dem alten Amt Damme 1830-1880
Have a nice weekend,
Werner Honkomp
Searching for information on birthplace and parents of Agnes Brokamp and
(Johan) Heinrich Rolfsen (later Rolsen) who married in 1847 in
Cincinnati,
OH, USA. Both listed on 1860 US Census as being born in Oldenburg.
Johan Heinrich (Henry) Rolfsen-born 11 Jan 1823, siblings Mary (born
about
1825) and Frank (born about 1832) and possibly Bernard (1823) and John.
Emigrated before 1847.Agnes Brokamp-born 06 May 1826. (An Agnes Brokamp is shown on ship
Hermitage
out of Bremen 08 Oct 1846 with father Henry and siblings Frederick, Anna
Maria, and Dina, but no proof that this is the correct Agnes. Agnes's
age is
wrong, but that happened frequently.)
Henry and Agnes married 16 Sep 1847 in Cincinnati and before 1870 owned a
farm in Constance (Taylorsport), Boone County, Kentucky, USA.One of the daughters of Henry and Agnes married William Brokamp,
believed to
be the son of Henry, but I cannot find if there is a family relationship
between Agnes the mother-in-law and William the son-in-law.I have a copy of Clifford Neal Smith's German-American Genealogical
Research
Monograph Number 12 listing emigrants from Damme with many Rolfsen and
Brokamp families but cannot determine which would be the correct ones. Thanks for any help you can give.
Beth Carrick (2nd great-granddaughter of Henry and Agnes.)
