Condictus vs sive

Can someone tell me what the difference is in the meaning of these two words when it is written in the Church Records of Osnabrueck or Ankum? Are they used interchangably? Thanks in advance.

Hello Carolyn,

the two words are not interchangeable, I think. The meaning of "sive" is "or", you can call him/it so or so. "condictus" means he is regulated, fixed, determined or stated.
Hope it was helpful,
Gerd (Lauing)

It is latin, condictus and sive the same, means genannt = called ....
