City Directories in Schlesien

I apologize for writing in English. Can anyone tell me if there were city directories or perhaps phone books for any of the cities and towns of Schlesien between 1940 and 1960? My grandfather had brothers who, as he phrased it were "stuck behind the iron curtain" in the area we later relized was upper silesia... possibly around the cities of Breslau or in towns near Oppeln. My grandfather received a letter (long since discarded) from a brother living in the region, possibly near Breslau, around the year 1950; so we know he had a living brother in Silesia at that time.

At times they spelled their name BALDY, however, they claimed to be of German descent and often spelled their names BAUDY. There may have been variations of the name like BALDEY, BAULDY and BALDI.

My grandfathers family was from Falkowitz, though he had relatives and ancestors in and arround Schalkowitz, Poppelau, Kup and Brinnitz. Though I feel they may have moved around before or after the war and perhaps were among those listed as "displaced".

If anyone knows of any city or town directories from the years 1940 through 1960 and can look up the names BALDY and BAUDY and any variations, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank You.

Hello Tim

in this time I am researching in the old parish registers, baptism, of "Alt
Schalkowitz" the time from 1834 up to 1870. When I was reading the microfilm
last Friday at the Mormones family history center, I saw some entries for
the name you are looking for. I remember, the name was "Baldey". In the "Alt
Schalkowitz" parisch register for this time are listed the following
villages: Alt Schalkowitz, Sacken, Hirschfelde. Before 1834, also Poppelau
was listed in the parish register of Alt Schalkowitz.

The film nr.: 0937163 ( 1834 - 1870 )

Greetings
