Cholera?

Hello all,
For some time now I have been following the back and forth on this site and have learned quite a bit .

Now I have a question of my own that I hope someone will be able to answer.

During the research of my Family in the Kirchenbuch of Sternberg, I have found the death entry of my GR.GR. Grandmother. She died 4 Sep 1859 at age 27 of the results of 'Brechruhr'. It is hard to read and could be Bruchruhr or even Bauchruhr.

Could this have been Cholera? During the span of one month, 188 people died of the same ailment. At any other time there were about 4-8 death a month. Would like to hear some feedback on it.

thank you for reading this

Wuerde mich ueber jede antwort freuen

Vielen Dank
Margot Henriksen

Hallo Margot,

Brechruhr war die Cholera,
aber auch heftige Brechdurchfaelle anderer Ursache.
