Checking Translation Please

Could some kind soul please help me checking the translation of a
chapter of my website?

I have completed the task, but I need someone to make a final check
for errors which might have slipped through.

The chapter is located at:

   Die WEDEMEYER Familie von Ostaustralien, Kapitel 1

I have written this chapter in the effort to contact possible German
speaking relatives. I am OK with simple German, but the more complex
sentences have given me room for error. Also, words can be used in
unintentional ways that a native speaking German could find unusual
and even laughable!
