Are there any shiplists of German immigrants that came into the U.S. through Charleston, SC? I think I have Ahrens relatives from Beverstedt that came in through Charleston around 1855-1862.

I am not sure if this will help or not, but I just came across it today. It is a German emigration/immigration record site. http://home.att.net/~wee-monster/ei.html
Hello George,
Have you ever looked at the Beverstedt church records filmed by the
LDS?
Kirchenbuch, 1715-1852 Evangelische Kirche Beverstedt (Kr.
Geestemünde)
If you go to a LDS center, you can order the microfilm for Beverstedt
and view it (them) there.
Shiplists can be a big disappointment. I don't find very many lists
online with Charleston as a port. What is it that you are looking for? You
can view the passenger lists for Charleston at the National Archives:

I did a Google search and see that you want information of Benjamin,
Nicolas, and Meta Ahres (parents-William and Catherine Ahrens). Can you be
more specific about what you hope to find?
Barbara
You can narrow it a bit by checking history to see if any passengers came in during the Civil War ... which began when they fired on Ft. Sumter in Charleston Harbor in 1861, didn't it?
Immigration dropped off sharply 1861-1865 in the North. I don't know a heck of a lot about Charleston during that time .... we were Yankees .... but it's worth a look at history if you can cut off a couple years of searching.
