I am looking for the Ohlrogge family. I know that Johann Hinrich Ohlrogge was born Oct 5 1809 in Lahmstedt. Hannover, Germany, he married 1834 Catherine Sophia Auguste Havemann. They had my great grandfather Lewis or Louis or Ludwig Ohlrogge Jan 9 1838 in Lahmstedt. Catherine died August 11 1851 in Lahmstedt. I find them in Brooklyn, New York in 1861 but think they came over before then. Can you help me with the Ohlrogge family?
Leslie
Hello Leslie,
I finally received the microfilm with the second half of the Stammbaum
(family tree) charts for Lamstedt. The chart for OHLROGGE states that
Johann Hinrich and Catharina Sophia Auguste OHLROGGE had three more
children, Gesche (born 29 June 1845), Hinrich (born 30 Jan 1848) and Ahrend
(born 10 Nov 1850), all born in Lamstedt, before Catharina's death in 1851.
On 20 Mar 1853, Johann Hinrich OHLROGGE married an Anna WOELBERN, the
daughter of Hinrich WOELBERN, a cottager (Koetner) from Koeven. Johann and
Anna then had two daughters, Anna, born 22 August 1854, and Anna, born 13
Jan 1862 (these two girls might have had different middle names - the charts
unfortunately do not usually list middle names). Johann Hinrich died on 2
July 1890 and his second wife Anna died on 24 May 1902.
The charts also indicate that the youngest son, Ahrend, was employed as a
cooper (Boetscher). He married Mar. WOELBERN (I am not sure if this is
Marie or Margret) on 29 May 1880. Mar. WOELBERN was the daughter of Hinrich
WOELBERN from the parish of Hechthausen. Ahrend and Mar. had two children,
Anna, who was born on 20 Jun 1881 and died on 10 Mar 1884, and a still born
son, born and died on 21 Aug 1884. Ahrend died on 7 May 1891. Mar. latter
remarried a man named BUTT.
The family charts indicate that the founder of the OHLROGGE line in
Lamstedt, Luetje OHLROGGE, was born in 1782 in the village of Worpedorf (?,
perhaps Worpswede?) on the Teufelsmoor. I believe I also found a
confirmation record in the Kirchenbuch records that shows that that Luetje's
son Ahrend was born in the village of Gnarrenburg.
I will try to tie all of this information together and send you a more
complete package of information on your OHLROGGE ancestors from Lamstedt.
Fred
Fred: Wow.

There is book called "Familienbuch, Kirchengemeinde Grasberg, 1789 -
1875" and this book tells all about the baptizms, marriages and burials
in the parish from Grasberg. The village you called Worpedorf isn't the
same then Worpswede, it is Woerpedorf (we in Germany use two dots over
the first o) and it is part of the parish of Grasberg.
This book tells about your ancestors:

There are no more informations about your ancestors in the Grasberg-book but some more about some of their siblings (marriage and wifes and children) - are you interested in?
I will look for the ancestors of Marje Marie Wischhusen and Anne
Margrete Behrens too.
parents of Marje Marie Wischhusen:
Friedrich Wischhusen * 20.1.1760,

all the datas of this family are from the Lilienthal-book
the parents of Arend Wischhusen * about 1714:
the book doesn't tell definetly who his parents were, but I'm sure this couple are his parents because he is a Dierck Wischhusen living in Falkenberg and he had a son born in 1715, 1715 is near to 1714 and in that time the people (or teir children) often didn't know sure when they had been born, means how old they are or were when they died. I think the word: * about 1714 is calculatet from his age the pastor noticed in his death entry and that often has a mistake in it.
so here the couple who I think are his parents:
Dierck Wischhusen * about 1677 + 14.5.1722
1708: Kthner in Falkenberg, he came from Butendiek

So, I hope I found all the informations the book gives and didn't forget any wife and her parents.
If there are any questions please ask, we will see if I can help.
I hope all these ancestors are new for you - in the other way put them into the trash!
Many greetings

Leslie, I wonder if you are aware that the LDS have microfilm of the
Lamstedt church records that go up to 1852. You should be able to find
records of your Ohlrogge family in there. In addition, the LDS also has
microfilm for the church records of Grasberg and Lilienthal where Marie
Renken told you your Ohlrogge's were earlier.
I also have Ohlrogge ancestors but mine were from Buchholz.
Good hunting,
Paul Scheele
Paul: Thank You.
