Census and Shipping records

Hello to all

I apologize that I do not speak German, so I hope someone is able to
understand my English.

Please help me to locate some census or shipping records for Königsberg
Prussia from 1800 to 1870.

My great grandfather Friedrich Heinrich Leopold Czerwonka (1837) and his
father Friedrich Wilhelm Czerwonka (1809) were both born in Königsberg and I
am trying to find out a little more about them.

1. What sort of employment they had?
2. Where had they lived?
3. When did Friedrich Heinrich Czerwonka leave Königsberg?
4. What ship did he sail on?
5. Did it sail directly to New Zealand?

I know that his name is mentioned in the Auckland newspaper 1865.

Please help me by advising what government department would have this sort
of information.

Looking forward to anyone’s reply

Special regards

Dear Stuart

I've done a little bit of research at ancestry and familysearch.org: I
did find a birth entry in the church book of the birth of Friedrich
Heinrich Leopold Czerwonka born 10th Sept. 1837, mother Catharina
Augustine born Kreuz. He died in 1909 in St. Leonards, NSW, Australia

He got married in 1874 in New Zealand to Alice Emily Carey-Brown
(1854-1933). They had 8 kids.

In 1891 he lived in NSW, Paddington, Woolahra (NSW Census), stating 5
male and 6 female family members. There are also more entries of the NSW
census of other years. One thing I was wondering: the family name
Czerwonka had in addition -Ledez. I could not find out the origin of
that suffix.

Best regards from Bern, Switzerland
