You might start with this link:
http://www.genealogienetz.de/reg/ANH/anhalt.htm
It provides information about research possibilities in Anhalt from the 19th century. As Seehausen is now part of Sachsen-Anhalt, I assumed it was part of Anhalt in the 19th century.
If not there are more information about Germany on that page too:
Have a look at this overview of 1871:
http://www.genealogienetz.de/reg/ger1871.html
Hope that helps giving you a start.

Hi Tommy
"Seehausen Germany (Prussia)" unfortunately cannot describe one unique,
certain place for there are several Seehausen places here in Germany
which had been located in Prussian territories in this time:
1. Seehausen, in Uckermark area (zip code 17291)
2. Seehausen, west of city of Magdeburg (zip code 39365)
3. Seehausen, northeast of Lutherstadt Wittenberg on Elbe river (zip
code 14913)
4. Seehausen in Altmark area, between Wittenberge on Elbe river and
Osterburg (zip code 39615)
Additionally, if the place Seehausen searched for would *not* have been
in Prussia then, you have to count with 5 more Seehausen here ...
You may want to take a search in German White Pages
(http://www.dastelefonbuch.de/NSAPI/Anfrage?AKTION=zeSuchseiteTelefonbuc
h&SPRACHE=EN&SESSIONID=0280fcc588430347a800008dc6&TAOID=&VERZEICHNIS=1&B
UAB=BUNDESWEIT&H_NUTZUNGSBEDINGUNGEN=TRUE) for "Siegler" or "Siegeler"
and "Seehausen". There you can find some SIEG(E)LER phone book entries
of today, maybe pointing you to the place your ggfather might have come
from. Good luck so far.
Best regards.
Juergen
Hello Tommy,
Jürgen Fritsche's comments are excellent and he should be thanked because he has done some work to compile that information. I had a similar problem as my gg grandfather HONE / HÖHNE was from Wittenberg there are also several possibilities. I believe now, though it is unconfirmed, that he was from Lutherstadt Withenburg, near two of your possibilities.
I helped confirm this by checking the German War Memorial site in English German War Memorial Website - English - Onlineprojekt Gefallenendenkmäler and in Deutsch Gefallendenkmäller, Ich empfehle, dass jeder diese Stelle besucht http://www.denkmalprojekt.org/ . I searched for August Littman HÖHNE and found a concentration of HÖHNE in the Lutherstadt Wittenberg, Elbe area. Of course it helps to have an uncommon surname. This site has over 250,000 is growing. It is dedicated to remember the names of fallen German and Austria armed forces is nothing short of fantastic. It is free.
To quote the webmaster "We hope that the names of the dead will remind us of the insanity of war." Thilo C. Agthe
Also, be sure to do as much detailed research in the US, it helps.
