Buschenlange, Nordenbrock or Kordenbrock Oldenburg

Hello Listmembers, have a Happy New Year!

A friend search for his cousine Lisette (short form of Elisabeth) Buschenlange, emigrated about 1880 from Garrel/Oldenburg.
I found a passenger list arrival New York June 1881. It listed:

Buschenlang Elisabeth, 17
Nordenbrock Heinrich 23, Tailor

We assume that also Heinrich Nordenbrock came from the same area and it could that they married in the States. The right spelling Kordenbrock.
Hermann Heinrich Kordenbrock is born 21. Aug. 1862 in Beverbruch/Oldenburg.

Can anybody check the census at 1890?

Thank you,
Werner

Hello Werner,
Unfortunately, there is no 1890 census in the United States. It was
destroyed in a fire. I do not have access to Ancestry.com to check the 1900
census, but someone on the list probably will.
Below is a list of Kordenbrocks in the 1880 census. There are
Nordenbrocks as well. Obviously the Herman Heinrich is not listed here, if
he immigrated in 1881. I have not found the name Buschenlange anywhere in
the U.S. (not in the telephone book at all). It could be that it was
shortened or changed in this country. Sorry I couldn't find more
information.

Hallo,

Hello Barbara,
thank you for the Kordenbrocks records you sent.
We found know the Henrich Kordenbrock, he married 1885 in Covington to Josephina Carolina Holtrop, not to Elisabeth Buschenlange as assume.
Therefore we miss still Elisabeth(Lisette) Buschenlange, emigrated 1881 via New York.
Thank you,
Werner

Happy New Year !
While it is true that the 1890 US Census was destroyed in a fire, many states
conduct their own censuses in years ending in 5, e.g. 1885, 1895, etc. I don't
know if Kentucky is one of these states, but New York is.
I haven't yet found an on-line source for these State censuses, but perhaps
someone on the list knows or lives near the state capitol and could research it
for you.

Hi Werner:

The best I can tell from the Lexington library is that
there is a 1890 census, but it is for Union Veterans
and/or their widows.
