I am looking for any archival records for Julius Wilhelm Burgdorf. From U.S. records I have gleaned that he was born in Hildesheim in Hanover about 1825. I have no records of parents or siblings. This information came from the birth certificate of one of his American born sons. From the date recorded on Julius's death certificate issued in 1878, I calculate his birth date as 1825.
Passenger manifests show he traveled alone, no other Burgdorf on board. He embarked on the ship ODER from Hamburg in 1859 arriving in New Orleans January 1860. The passenger list shows him as J. W. Burgdorf as does some other U.S. records.
