Burgdorf

My trip to New Orleans and the Cajun country was not very successful.
I visited the NO Library and hoped to go to the Historic New Orleans
Collection but an underground fire knocked out power to large portion
of the French Quarter includung the library.

The reference you sent me re Dora Bergdorf was successful. This
person is the daughter of Julius and Mary. I believe that the correct
name should be Dorothy Burgdorf and she was married to Otto Gennel,
not Kanal. The weird thing is that her death in the library index
files state her death was 1927-10-15 and directly below that on the
same page it states her obit appears as 1927-12-04 in the TP Paper,
pg 10, col 4. I could not find it in either paper. I have written the
state archives requesting her death certificate and gave them both
dates. Their search will cover both dates plus or minus 3 years.

The other Burgdorfs are not in the Julius family. I did not pursue
them.

In the Cajun country I met 2 local genealogy hobbiests but did not
pick up anything new, only some confirmation of my data. My wife's
grandmother is descended from Michel Richard dit Sansoucy who
migrated to Canada in the mid 1600's. I have registered on his
Rootsweb name message board as well as one from France. But so far no
hits.

I do not know where to go next for Julius Burgdorf but I am
considering a professionial researcher. Do you have any suggestions?
