Dear List,

I was curious if Hildesheim is concidered part of the Emsland? Or Weser Ems?

(I think Weser Ems is official name for Emsland?) I could be way off on that.

New Orleans was common port of entry to the U.S. in the 19th century and fantastic river route to midwestern states.....Illinois, Missouri..etc...

.. good likelyhood that many families landing in New Orleans remained in Louisiana.

O.K. I'm with Bob here...on a huntch..huntches are just huntches..well if I spelled the word right..

Emsland is the area on the Ems river besides Netherland border.
Weser-Ems is the province between the Ems river and the Weser river and included the former Grand Duchy of Oldenburg.

But Hildesheim is located easterly of the town Hannover in the Hannover province, far away from Weser-Ems.
