Dear Anne
It was a great start to my Monday morning to actually see my ancestors last name on this list.
My ancestor:
Heinrich (Jean-Andre) Sasse (Szasse,Szass) came to Canada with the regiment of Specht, Brunswick troop, company Leib (B-5) (archives Wolfenbuettell). He was discharge and remained in Canada in 1783 (Rimpau list)
He apparently was born around 1735/1737 at Calvin (duchy of Magdeburg), possibly Calbe.
His parents were Christian Szasse and Catherine Sporleder.
He married February 3, 1785 at Berthier(Quebec,Canada) to Marie-Reine Contre dit Sansoucy (Francois and Marguerite Tessier)
I'm hoping someone in Germany can help me find out about his family, siblings, grandparents etc. It would be great to find out where they lived and what they did.
It would be nice to find relatives to communicate with as well.
Would you be from this family?
Thanks
Lynne (Zastre) Johnston (notice the change in name!)
