Böhne--research in the niedersachsen findbuch--help needed

Hello List Members,
Would someone help me? I believe my family members are listed in the findbuch, but since I speak no German I'm at a disadvantage. All six of these family members came to America together. My goal is to narrow it down and figure out how to order records. Both BÖHNE AND BOHNE are listed in OSNABRÜCK, HANNOVER, AND WOLFENBÜTTEL. On census records in America, my gr. grandfather names both Baden (ACHIM?) and Hannover (later) as place of residence in Germany.
All came on SHIP ORIENT--BREMEN TO NEW YORK--LANDED OCTOBER 2, 1834.
They are listed on the ship as follows:
Henry G. BÖHNE-age 60, John H? P? F? BÖHNE--age 30, Ann D. BÖHNE--age 32, Lewis BÖHNE--age 10, Ann BÖHNE--age 1 year and 6 months, and Herman BÖHNE--age 28 years and 9 months. (Ship ages were often not correct and the names were changed to English. Ages for the baby Ann and for Herman were correct--I have some church records.)
Some were from the Ort of OSTERCAPPELN. I believe Ann D. might be Marie Dorothea REMMERT BÖHNE who married Johann Heinrich in Feb., 1820 in ARENSHORST. My ggg grandfather who is on the ship as Henry, age 60, is most likely GERD HEINRICH BÖHNE who was born in 1770. My gg grandfather, John on the ship, is most likely Johann Heinrich BÖHNE born September 14, 1897 in OSTERCAPPELN.
My gr. grandfather, LEWIS BÖHNE, age 10 on the ship, was most likely LUDWIG BÖHNE (not sure of other names) but born September 24 or 25, 1823.
I would be so very thankful to have some help in finally getting some information on them!
Thanks for reading this epistle! Findbuch http://staatsarchive.niedersachsen.de/findbuch/

Hello Marsha,
There are so many Bohne/Böhne names on the emigration lists that I
find it difficult to narrow down the search to your family. The Osnabruck
records under Böhne are numerous. When you do the search, notice the
number at the end of each entry. Each of the numbers refer to a town.
Determining which town is a little complex. (I can explain that later if you
can't find the town.) The numbers for your family, if they traveled
together, should be similar. There is a set of numbers like 25514, 25515.
etc. That particular number is listed from Essen (or a nearby village). So
whatever records you choose, be sure that the numbers are
similar--otherwise, they are not your family - or at least that they
originated from different areas and/or did not travel together. However,
when you decide to order records, you need to have the code for each one
(which you get by clicking on the number for each name). Then you order from
the archive office (Osnabrück, Hannover, or Wolfenbüttel).

If you look at the letter from Marv Schrader posted today and scroll down,
you will see some letters that are from some people who ordered records and
what the process is. That should explain the ordering process.

Feel free to write me privately if you are still having trouble.

Good luck,
Barbara

Hi Barbara,

Here is the inquiry that I sent today for research on the Poppe family. I
hope this might also help someone if it is indeed helpful. Although after
looking at it, it's not pretty. -Marv-

Hello List Members,

findbuch, but ...

Dear Marsha K. Baney,

I found some differences in the dates of the Findbuch, you cited and your proofed
dates of BHNE of Baden near Achim. As the time you will wait for answer from
there might be long, also there will be costs and if not being the right ones
disappointement will be great, you should in any case make it more sure, that you
have found the right people. There are some doubts about that.

1. All dates from around Ostercappeln are of one region and Baden is another
region about 90 or 100 km in distance. That is nothing in distance today, but
depending on profession another world to reach in 1834. Farming people for
example were very regional bound, in case of merchandising people one should
count with several distant places occuring inside the known family dates.

2. Also ship list aren`t very correct, the quantity of error in age and name are
a lot. The age differences are two times 3 years. One year should be the most
often difference, because of departure and making the ship-list might be in one
year and arrival already in the new year.

I would suggest, if not already done, to reassure first things in the parish-book
of Baden nearby Achim, if your people are not documented there. If you have the
parish records about the youngest, Ann and Herman and both were born in Germany,
which parish is given there ? If there is given a place around Ostercappeln you
probably will be on the way, if not ... . In any case you should see first the
parish-book of Baden. The adress of the Lutheran parish there is:

- Ev. Gemeindehaus
  Kirchenbro
  Am Friedhof 8
  28832 Achim

or in case of Catholic religion:

- Katholisches Pfarramt
  Meislahnstr. 10
  28832 Achim

There is also one BOHNE in Achim in 1995:

- Bohne, Rolf, Schwedenschanze 9c, 28832 Achim

Greetings and the very best to you Hans Peter Albers, Bienenbttel
