Hi! Me again. Gummern, etc. are apparently just barely on the right side of
the Elbe River to be in Hannover, so the archive would have the records. I
have ancestors (Backhaus, Runge) from Lüchow and Prezelle, southwest of
Gummern. Are your ancestors Wends (or Sorbs) ?

Thanks for sharing the info about the Lutheran archives in Hannover. I am sooo glad to hear that as the Gummern records are at Schnackenberg, but the FHL has only two years of the Schnackenberg records, 1810-1812.

My ancestors are Wends, how did you know that? My ggg grandfather Joachim Wend married Sophia Reinke. She apparently died as Joachim came in 1854 w/o her, but with the five children. Are you familiar with the Reinke name?

Just googled Wends and Sorbs. Not a name after all. I have never heard about this before.
