servant Hanover, StrelshausenI can't find Strelshausen on any maps of Hannover or the rest of
Germany, could this be Streithausen ? Looks like Strelsheusen on the
original. All other records just give Germany, apart from his wife
renaturalisation certificate (during world war 1, after he had died),
which gives him as Hanovarian, Germany.
Hi Julie Harold,
there is a streetname in the city of Hannover with sounds a bit similar. It is in the part of town called Langenhagen and named STREHLAUER Str. . It is a small street only 13 entries in the telefone directory. So if STREHLAUERSTR. is a possible reading of STRELSHAUSEN,you might be lucky with one of the seldom cases of fully adress. As the quarter in which this street can be found looks in generally build after the World War II - one might conclude this by the surrounding streetnames as Königsberger und Breslauerstr., which were choosed often in remembrance of the lost home - I cannot say there is too much hope.
Another possibility might be STROHAUSEN, part of STADTLAND Kreis Wesermarsch. It is still former kingdom of Hanover and has got the seldom ending ...-HAUSEN in connection with starting ST...
Not to far from Hannover you will find STADTHAGEN. This place as possible reading has the advantage of having a living BODE-population of four different families or households.
Sorry nothing more similar for the Hannover, respectively Lower Saxony region.
Good luck Hans Peter Albers, Bienenbüttel
